Caretaker govt after current tenure is over, says minister

-

lahore — Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said the upcoming elections will be held on time and the caretaker government will be formed only after completion of tenure of the incumbent government.

Addressing a Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) workers’ convention here on Sunday, he said that the his party wanted elections to be held on time. He, however, added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan wanted the elections to be delayed.

He said that people were well aware of political situation and they were wise enough to decide whom to vote for.

He said that the PML-N’s outgoing government was not given a free hand to rule and conspiracies were constantly hatched against it during the last five years.

“The PML-N government was not allowed to work for the country,” he added.

The minister said that antidemocracy forces failed to topple the government despite conspiracies against it. He said due to these conspiracies the process of progress slowed down in the country.

Saad said that allegations, sitins and summons slowed progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and also damaged political norms and democracy.

“Such political environment is dangerous for Pakistan,” he added. He said that the PML-N would not allow bitterness in politics to enter the society at any cost. “The PML-N is the largest party of the country,” he added.

He said that load-shedding would have been eliminated had the PML-N government been allowed to work by those who staged sit-ins and protests against it.
