Comfortabl­e victories for Phoenix, Globelink

sharjah — Commanding performanc­es from Phoenix Medicines and Globelink WestStar ensured they won their respective matches in the 44th Bukhatir Premier League 2018 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It was batting at its best in the match where Phoenix Medicine defeated Mir by five wickets. Chasing an imposing 248 to win, opener Muhammad Waseem mixed caution with aggression to score a fine 86 from 112 deliveries including half a dozen boundaries and four sixes to lay the foundation. Muhammad Ikram Jura (47, 56b, 4x4) and Rohan Mustafa (25 not out, 28b, 2x4) made significan­t contributi­ons as Phoenix Medicines overhauled the target in the 47th over.

Earlier, Mir saw two of their batsmen Syed Maqsood (77, 60b, 9x4, 4x6) and Salman Babar (70, 77b, 5x4, 2x6) hit half centuries to help their team post 247 in 48.4 overs. Dawood Ejaz chipped in with a crucial 36.

For Phoenix Medicines, Amir Hayat bagged three wickets while Ahmed Raza and Shoaib Laghari claimed two each.

In the other match, Renjith Mani blasted a century while Jiju Janardhana­n claimed a hat trick during his seven-wicket haul as Globelink WestStar defeated Bukhatir XI by a massive 154 runs.
