Capital roads shine with Ramadan lights
abu dhabi — Thousands of decoration lights are being installed on the roads and public squares of Abu Dhabi to increase the city’s beauty and tranquility ahead of Ramadan.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADCM) said on Monday that it is completing decorating Abu Dhabi city and suburban areas involving installation of 2,750 lighting configurations in main streets, public squares and bridges in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.
The step reflects the commitment of the department of urban planning and municipalities at the ADCM to provide a joyful environment that reflects the values of the holy month and its spiritual manifestations.
A municipality statement said: “The decorative lighting project undertaken by the ADCM is modelled by Islamic configurations inspired by the spirit of the holy month.”
The massive number of lighting designs and models amounts to 1,400 shapes in 26 different designs as well as 1,350 decorative lighting models hanging on trees.
This year, the municipality has introduced new designs such as lanterns hanging on trees. As such, the municipality is aiming to add lighting models to domes, crescents and rostrums of mosques as well as other iconic Islamic patterns.
Ramadan lighting will be glowing all over city starting from May 10 to until the end of the Eid Al Fitr holiday. The illuminating lighting configurations span several districts and other public facilities
