Bucharest to host Arabian Horse Racing Forum

madrid — The Romanian capital of Bucharest was named as host for the 2019 edition of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s World Arabian Horse Racing Forum (WAHRF) on the final day of the 2018 WAHRF which came to an end in the Spanish capital on Sunday.

Bucharest will be the 10th city in the world to stage the annual conference which made its debut in 2010 in Abu Dhabi under the directions of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs.

The closing ceremony of the WAHRF in Madrid earlier got off to a great start at the La Quinta De Jarama when the 400-plus delegates from nearly 90 countries marked the 100th birthday of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Forum and other activities of the Festival are being held in the ‘Year of Zayed’ to mark his 100th birth anniversar­y which in fact fell on Sunday, May 6.

A portrait of the great UAE leader, painted by Santosh Kumar, was unveiled on the night and later was gifted to Dr. Hessa Al Oteiba, UAE Ambassador to Spain, as a memento to the embassy Lara Sawaya.

Also feted were the UAE Ladies endurance team that won the Individual and Team Gold on Saturday, all UAE connection­s of Purebred Arabian racing, members of the media and all panel members of the seven sessions that were part of the three-day Forum.
