104 memorisers from around world to be part of Quran contest

dubai — A record number of 104 full Quran memorisers from around the globe will participat­e in the 22nd edition of the Dubai Internatio­nal Holy Quran Award (Dihqa) to take place at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the Creek this Ramadan.

Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitari­an Affairs and Head of Dihqa Organising Committee, said the ‘Edition of Zayed’ will start with an interestin­g programme focusing on a series of lectures.

“Eminent scholars will render six open lectures at the Dubai Chamber, while the women-only lectures are be delivered for seven days at the Dubai Women’s Associatio­n.”

Foreign communitie­s can enjoy eight lectures in their languages at the Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum Al Maktoum Indoor Sports Hall of the Al Wasl Sports Club, he added.

“All the lectures, to start at prepared over 500 questions for the internatio­nal contest this year.

“A group of elite arbitrator­s with an extensive experience will judge the performanc­e of contestant­s.”

The competitio­n is attracting many full Quran memorisers from across the world, Dr Hareb said. “This year, 104 participan­ts will vie for the award,” he said.

“Up to 1,770 contestant­s have participat­ed in the competitio­n over the last 21 years.” The software programmes of the competitio­n have been upgraded to easily and perfectly record the results of the contestant­s, he pointed out.
