Dubai Mammoths, Gems Education win in DCC Ramadan league

dubai — Prashant Braggs struck six sixes and an equal number of fours during his unbeaten knock of 84 to steer Dubai Mammoths to a fivewicket win over Farooq CC in Group A of the Dubai Cricket Council’s Ramadan League at the Dubai Internatio­nal Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a modest 147 to win, Mammoths saw three of their top players in Ranjeet Chavan, Javed Siddiqui and Lucky Abbas return to the pavilion without opening their accounts. But man of the match Prashant and Mashood CTK dug deep to take their team home with three overs to spare. Mashood too remained not out after hitting a four and a six in his run-a-ball 30.

Earlier electing to bat, Farooq rode on a half century from Qais Farooq to reach 146. For Dubai Mammoths, Ambey Partwatkar (324), Kapil Ghandi (2-25), Ranjeet Chavan (2-13) and Mashood CTK (2-27) were the wicket takers.

Gems Education registered their second successive win in the month-long tournament after thrashing Redwood by six wickets.

Nihad Nazir was the only batsman to make a sizeable contributi­on. He scored an unbeaten 42 and Vijender Rana made 19 but the total of 120 was swelled mainly due to 24 Extras conceded by Gems.

However, Redwood could not capitalise on the extra runs given to them on a platter as Gems finished the match in 11.3 overs. Man of the match Ali Tipu Sultan, who had taken three wickets, hit an unbeaten 36 with Mohammed Salman (32) and Amin Rasool (20 not out) too among the runs. Dubai Mammoths bt Farooq by 5 wkts.
