dubai — The main branch of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA), 22nd edition, started at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday night.

Dr Ibrahim bin Sulaiman Al Huwaimel, Chairman of the Arbitration Committee, said the award has become on top of all Quran competitions worldwide with 104 contestants in the edition named ‘Zayed Edition’.

Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of DIHQA Organising Committee, said the prizes of the competition are of the biggest in international Quran competitions.

“The first winner will get a Dh250,000 prize while Dh200,000 will be given to the winner of the second place, and Dh150,000 for the third.”

While the cultural programme of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award ends at the Dubai Chamber, Dr Sheikh Aziz Farhan Al Anzi lectured women at the Dubai Women’s Association on the specifics of peaceful houses.

“Such houses are known for consistent remembrance of Allah and seeking His forgiveness, particularly during hardships and bad times” he said.

One can find true happiness in a peaceful house, he added. “Disagreeing about something does not mean the end of the world, and there is no house without challenges or problems as was the case in the house of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).”

In another lecture at the Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum Al Maktoum Indoor Sports Hall of the Al Wasl Sports Club, Sheikh Hussain Chullikkodan, said that giving advice is one of the main aspects of Islam.

“Islam has called for spreading compassion and goodness among people, by giving advice to others, cooperating with them, and showing them the right path.”
