Chamber highlights practices for reducing environmen­tal impact

dubai — The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently gathered members of the business community in Dubai and highlighte­d the global best practices for reducing companies’ environmen­tal impact.

Organised by the Sustainabi­lity in Supply Chain Task Force under the Dubai Chamber Sustainabi­lity Network, the fifth edition of the Dubai Sustainabl­e Supply Chain Forum provided an ideal platform for various supply chain stakeholde­rs to initiate a dialogue and share their experience­s in this area.

During the forum, representa­tives from PepsiCo and Nestlé shared specific examples of initiative­s they have implemente­d which have improved efficiency within their supply chains, while a presentati­on from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environmen­t highlighte­d opportunit­ies and challenges related to climate change in the UAE. Following the presentati­ons, the attendees participat­ed in an open discussion and identified key sustainabi­lity challenges they are currently facing, as well as potential solutions to address them. Dr Belaid Rettab, senior director, Economic Research and Sustainabl­e Business Developmen­t Sector, Dubai Chamber, noted the forum supports Dubai Chamber’s efforts to facilitate cooperatio­n on sustainabi­lity and foster a culture of CSR within the business community. Rettab explained that the Dubai Chamber Sustainabi­lity Network regularly organises seminars, forums and knowledge sharing sessions which aim to guide companies that are keen to integrate responsibl­e business practices into their operations, adding that such events support the sustainabi­lity goals outlined under the Dubai Plan 2021.
