abu dhabi — A Dubai-based expat’s drunken threat to kill the chief minister of the south Indian state of Kerala has cost him his job. Krishnakumar SN Nair posted a video on Facebook on Tuesday, saying he would “soon” travel to Kerala to murder Pinarayi Vijayan.

Nair used to work as a senior rigging supervisor at Abu Dhabibased Target Engineering Construction Company. After the video that was filmed at the company accommodation went viral and sparked outrage on social media, he was fired on Wednesday.

Khaleej Times has learnt that Nair — a self-professed supporter of Indian right-wing organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh — is now staying at a “safe house” in Abu Dhabi. Political killings and skirmishes between the Communist Party of India (Marxist) — to which the chief minister belongs — and the RSS are regular incident, especially in Kannur district.

when he flies back home.

Following the backlash, Nair put up a second video on Facebook, saying he had filmed the first in a drunken state. “I have lost my job. I am ready to face any action (back in Kerala). I seek forgiveness from Pinarayi Vijayan and all politicians. I know what I said in the video was wrong,” Krishnakumar said.

In the first video, Nair filmed himself saying: “I am resigning from my job here and returning to Kerala. I am staying in Dubai. I will be in Kerala for two-three days with an aim to kill. It is time to sharpen old knives. I am least bothered how my life is going to end.”

Talking about the reason behind his threat, Nair said no action had been taken by the Kerala Police for derogatory remarks made recently by a Kerala television artiste against a state BJP female leader. Nair then goes on to hurl abuses at Vijayan and made derogatory comments about his caste.

‘forgive me, kerala’

Later in another video, he apologised, saying the Facebook Live was done when he was drunk.

“I am sorry and seek forgiveness from the honourable Kerala chief minister and his family. All Keralites please forgive me,” Krishnakumar said in a video, where he is seen flanked on either side by two men. He noted that both the Left party supporters had “peacefully” made him realise his “wrongdoings”.
