Students spread green messages in Ramadan
abu dhabi — Students from various schools in the Capital have reached out to the general public with a message to transform the world with their small acts during this Ramadan.
Students of Shining Star International School gave Ramadan food kits packed in paper bags to motorists at traffic junctions. Principal Anita Singh said the Iftar kits in paper bags were an invitation to the general public to join the fight against plastic.
“Students from Grade 3 to 7 made the paper bags. We want the general public to unite against plastic pollution. Also, by giving Iftar kits to motorists, the students learn the Ramadan message of love and sharing. The food packets are helpful for motorists to break their fast and avoid speeding. It was a collective effort of students, parents and staff,” Anita said and added all necessary precautions were taken by the school as students took to the streets.
The students of the school also donated 30 cartons of clothes to the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
Meanwhile, students of Dunes International School distributed newspaper bags to restaurants and groceries in the Capital. Principal Paramjit Ahluwalia said in the month of Ramadan the school is striving hard to make the younger generation become more sensitive towards environment.
“The students got a good opportunity to communicate and spread messages of protecting environment.”
Separately, students of Bright Riders School joined Tadweer (Centre of Waste Management Abu Dhabi) and LuLu Hypermarket’s initiative to promote reusable bag campaign of ‘Refuse. Reduce and Reuse’. The students performed a skit to encourage shoppers to raise awareness about the need to care for nature and promote the benefits of utilising reusable bags.
