KT wins at the media Oscars
washington — Winning is a habit with Khaleej Times, and your favourite news service added yet another feather in its cap last week when it clinched the second runner-up title in the category of ‘Best Use of Mobile’ at the INMA Global Media Awards, the media equivalent of the Oscars.
The KT Mobile News Service was adjudged among the Top 3 out of a total of 196 finalists. News Break by Winnipeg Free Press from Canada took the top award in the category while VOL.at Redesign of Austria was the second runner-up.
Instituted by the International News Media Association (INMA), the Global Media Awards were presented before more than 400 participants attending the 88th INMA World Congress in Washington, D.C. on June 4.
The 2018 Global Media Awards competition received 830 entries from 220 media companies in 39 countries. Khaleej Times was the only UAE media service to receive an award at the media Oscars, where an international panel of 50 executives selected 195 finalists, including the KT Mobile News Service as one of the strongest contenders in the Mobile category.
The New York Times’ ‘Truth Is Hard’ multi-media campaign won the coveted ‘Best in Show’ award. INMA is a global community of news media companies reinventing how they engage audiences and grow revenue in a multi-media environment.
