ajman — The Ajman Police have arrested a gang of four who stole Dh130,000 from a bank client and tried to flee the country.

The police detained the four African men, who targeted bank clients, three hours before departing the country through Sharjah Airport. The police also managed to seize Dh130,000 they had stolen from the bank customer in Ajman.

Lt-Col Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ajman Police, said that they received a complaint from an Asian man saying he kept the amount in his car after taking it from a bank and left for shopping. The victim told the police that he was shocked to discover that the cash was disappeared.

Based on his information, the police formed a team to identify the suspects.

The team inspected the crime scene and collected fingerprints and reviewed the camera footage to identify the suspects. The police found the car used by the suspects to carry out the crime and identified them in coordination with the Sharjah Police and arrested them at the airport.

They have been referred to public prosecution following a confession during the interrogation. The stolen cash has been given back to its owner.

Al Nuaimi praised the efficiency of the CID officers in arresting the accused, urging public not to hesitate to report any person trying to commit theft or any other crime punishable by law.

He stressed that the Ajman Police will deal firmly with anyone who thinks of tampering with the security of the homeland and the safety of citizens and residents.
