Al Nasr sign Cabaye
dubai — Arabian Gulf League club Al Nasr have continued their summer recruitment drive by capturing French international Yohan Cabaye.
Capped 48 times by France, the Crystal Palace midfielder was linked to French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille as well as a return to his former employers Newcastle United.
But The Blues managed to land the former Paris Saint-Germain playmaker on Tuesday.
Cabaye joins on a free transfer after his contract with Crystal Palace came to an end in June.
The 32-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Blue Wave and will don the No.7 jersey.
The club announced the signing on their official twitter handle and although no financial details have been revealed, transfermarkt.com valued the deal to be 10 million euros. “Al Nasr Football Company officially hires French player Yohan Cabaye from Crystal Palace on a two-year contract. He will wear the No.7 shirt,” the club said.
Cabaye becomes the third foreign acquisition during the transfer window following the signing of Iury Lirio from Ukrainian club FC Zorya Luhansk and Samuel Rosa from relegated club Hatta. Cabaye began his career with French Ligue 1 club Lille before joining to Newcastle United. He made 79 appearances and scored 17 goals during his three seasons with The Magpies before making a high-profile move to Paris SaintGermain in 2014.
He spent one season with Paris Saint-Germain before joining Crystal Palace in 2015.During his three-year stint with The Eagles, Cabaye made 93 appearances and scored nine goals.
