salzburg —The UAE Football National team ended their camp in Austria with a goalless draw against Andorra in a friendly on Saturday at the DAS Goldberg Stadium in the West Austrian market town of Grodig.
Their Italian coach Alberto Zaccheroni made six substitutions during the match to give opportunity to every player in the squad of 27 before they returned to the UAE on Sunday.
This was the first 18-day camp for the National team ahead of the Asia Cup to be held in the UAE from January 5, 2019 to February 1, 2019.
The second camp will be held in Girona, Spain from September 1 to 12 during which the Whites will play friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago on September 6 and Laos on September 11.
The third camp will be held in Barcelona, also in Spain, from October 6 to 16 with two friendlies against Honduras and Venezuela on October 11 and 16 respectively. The fourth and fifth camps will run from November 6 to 20 and December 15 to 31 respectively at home, most likely in Al Ain, with two friendlies scheduled.
Meanwhile, the national team members will report for their club duties for the local season that starts with the Super Cup match between Al Ain (AGL and President’s Cup champions) and Al Wahda (AGL runners up) in Cario on August 25. The AGL season starts on August 30.
