ras al khaimah — A Dh3,000 fine has been slapped on a woman for damaging the door of her husband’s house by the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court.

The husband had lodged a complaint against his wife accusing her of breaking the door of his house with the RAK Police.

Records show the wife had filed a lawsuit against her husband seeking divorce after his repetitive physical and emotional abuse. “He used to beat me up all the time,” she told the court.

She said she was at the hospital during the night of the claimed damage of her husband’s house door. “I was getting a medical report that proved I was assaulted and bled while I was pregnant due to the harsh treatment of my husband.” When returning home, she discovered that her husband had locked her out as claimed by her husband. “She damaged the house door and broke into the house to take her children,” he told the court. The case referred to the public prosecution.

The case was moved to the misdemeanour court, where she denied the charges, telling the door was already broken.

The defence lawyer told the court that the husband’s allegations are fake and baseless considering ongoing family disputes documented in the court of personal status, leave a lone an underway divorce case. The husband refused all attempts of reconciliation and insisted on taking his wife to the court. However, the court found the defendant guilty and ordered her to pay the fine.
