Dibba get off the mark with victory over Al Dhafra

-

dubai — Yaseen Mahmoud scored twice and assisted once as Dibba defeated Al Dhafra 3-1, at Fujairah Stadium in matchweek 4 of the Arabian Gulf League.

The game started off in an electrifying fashion, when Dibba’s goalkeeper Mohamed Salem tackled Diego Rigonato inside the box, compelling the referee to point to the spot and award the away side a penalty kick. Ahmed Al Abri failed to convert from the spot after a brilliant save by the goalkeeper in the 21st minute.

Less than a minute later, Al Abri sent an in-swinging cross from the corner kick for Saeed Al Katheeri, who took the lead for the Western Knights with a clever header.

The Sailors responded quickly, as Mahmoud cut inside from the left wing and sent a weak curled cross inside the box, that went past Khaled Al Senaani after Dibba’s forward Joma Masoud failed to touch the ball, making it 1-1 in the 23rd minute.

Mahmoud turned from scorer to creator, when he found Masoud with a brilliant cross. The Kenyan’s composed flying header left Al Senaani helpless, putting the home side in front 64 minutes into the game.

Mahmoud continued his impressive performance, when he doubled his tally in the 66th minute. The number 14 player, controlled the ball at the edge of the box and smashed it into the back of Al Senaani’s net.

Following the win, Dibba occupy the 11th league spot with three points ahead of their clash against Al Nasr. Meanwhile, Al Dhafra sit at the bottom of the league table as they remain winless after four matchweeks and will face Al Wasl next week in the Arabian Gulf League.
