More big Saudi projects unveiled
dubai — Saudi Arabia on Thursday unveiled more development projects worth over SR7 billion for Hail on top of the SR16 billion announced two days ago for Qassim province.
In the second stopover of a royal tour across the kingdom, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, launched the projects some completed, while others are being launched in the northwestern region. The projects are aimed at significantly boosting development of the Hail region as they cover a wide range of economic segments including energy, industry, military, housing, education, transport, tourism, environment, water and agriculture.
The king, who is on a nationwide tour, has also pardoned several prisoners by paying debts of up to SR1 million ($267,000), on behalf of each of the pardoned prisoners.
King Salman also announced billions of dollars for some 600 projects to improve health facilities, roads, schools and other infrastructure in Qassim.
The king arrived in Hail on Wednesday evening from Qassim, a central region. In Qassim, King Salman marked the completion of 402 projects across 12 government sectors, worth SR12.15 billion. He also laid the foundations for 199 new or planned projects across five government sectors there, worth a total of SR4.2 billion. Those government-sector projects will benefit a wide range of sectors such as transport, education, roads, environment, water and electricity, public services and housing. The projects in Hail include completed projects by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage valued at SR7.87 million, and ground-breaking projects worth SR66.28 million. The Saudi Arabian National Guard finished projects worth SR1.13 billion, while the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs completed projects worth of SR562 million and ground-breaking projects valued at SR696 million.
The total value of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s inaugurated projects stood at SR543 million, with ground-breaking projects were at SR416 million. At Hail airport, King Salman was received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Hail, other princes and senior officials.
During his nationwide tour, the king is expected to launch many projects and initiatives, as he monitors the living conditions of Saudi citizens and acquaints himself with their needs, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
