Ajman buildings to be linked to civil defence control room
ajman — A new fire safety project will soon link all residential apartments in the emirate to the operation room of Ajman Civil Defence. The project is based on advanced artificial intelligence technologies and will be functioning round the clock.
The Ajman Civil Defence plans to launch new fire regulations called ‘Hassantuk’ (Protect You), a project that ensures quick response to fire accidents to prevent death and injuries.
The project, introduced by the Ministry of Interior, would oblige the building owners to link their properties with operation room to help firefighters reach the site without delay and prevent the loss of lives and properties.
Brig. Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, director-general of Ajman Civil Defence, said: “In many fire accidents cases, death and huge loss occurred due to the delaying of calling the operation room, which would immediately dispatch its team to reach the site.”
Brig. Al Shamsi added that the civil defence is making great efforts to ensure the safety of individuals and families and prevent loss of lives and properties by introducing of smart systems.
According to the official figures, 40 fire accidents occurred in residential apartments during the last 10 months causing three deaths and several people suffered from suffocation.
Meanwhile, the civil defence has intensified inspection and awareness campaigns targeting the owners of the buildings to oblige them to follow the fire safety regulations. The awareness also targeted homemakers and domestic helps to teach them how to use extinguishers and how to act during a fire emergency.
Many reasons have been cited for fire accidents in the emirate, which includes poor electrical connections, use of low-quality electrical devices and negligence.
Brig. Al Shamsi pointed out that “spreading awareness among families is very important to reduce the risk of fire accidents in residential apartments”.
