Aqdar summit to discuss human empowerment, sustainability

ABU DHABI — The Capital is set to host the second edition of the Aqdar World Summit this month, under the theme ‘Nourishing Mind, Flourishing Nations’, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Monday.
To be held from November 26 to 28 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the international event will tackle topics centred around human empowerment and sustainable development.
Major-General Dr Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, chairman of the summit’s higher committee, said that under the directives of Lt-Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the summit is aimed at engaging the youth in dialogues and discussions that sharpen their potential in creating a sustainable future.
He added that the summit would highlight the role of the UAE and the support of its leadership in empowering societies.
“It will also feature a special session that will discuss the achievements of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his role in building a country founded on the values of justice, peace, compassion and equality.”
Dr Abdulla Alraisi, deputy chairman and chairman of the scientific committee, said a number of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 have been incorporated in the event.
“The Scientific Committee has chosen the title ‘Sheikh Zayed Strategies on Empowering People’ for the first session that focuses on human development, as well as equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills required to build a sustainable future.”
