Aq­dar sum­mit to dis­cuss hu­man em­pow­er­ment, sus­tain­abil­ity

ABU DHABI — The Cap­i­tal is set to host the sec­ond edi­tion of the Aq­dar World Sum­mit this month, un­der the theme ‘Nour­ish­ing Mind, Flour­ish­ing Na­tions’, the Min­istry of In­te­rior (MoI) an­nounced on Mon­day.

To be held from No­vem­ber 26 to 28 at the Abu Dhabi Na­tional Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­tre, the in­ter­na­tional event will tackle top­ics cen­tred around hu­man em­pow­er­ment and sus­tain­able devel­op­ment.

Ma­jor-Gen­eral Dr Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, chair­man of the sum­mit’s higher com­mit­tee, said that un­der the di­rec­tives of Lt-Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of In­te­rior, the sum­mit is aimed at en­gag­ing the youth in di­a­logues and dis­cus­sions that sharpen their po­ten­tial in cre­at­ing a sus­tain­able fu­ture.

He added that the sum­mit would high­light the role of the UAE and the sup­port of its lead­er­ship in em­pow­er­ing so­ci­eties.

“It will also fea­ture a spe­cial ses­sion that will dis­cuss the achieve­ments of the Found­ing Fa­ther, Sheikh Zayed bin Sul­tan Al Nahyan, and his role in build­ing a coun­try founded on the val­ues of jus­tice, peace, com­pas­sion and equal­ity.”

Dr Ab­dulla Al­raisi, deputy chair­man and chair­man of the sci­en­tific com­mit­tee, said a num­ber of the United Na­tions Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment Goals for 2030 have been in­cor­po­rated in the event.

“The Sci­en­tific Com­mit­tee has cho­sen the ti­tle ‘Sheikh Zayed Strate­gies on Em­pow­er­ing Peo­ple’ for the first ses­sion that fo­cuses on hu­man devel­op­ment, as well as equip­ping in­di­vid­u­als with the knowl­edge and skills re­quired to build a sus­tain­able fu­ture.”
