The team consists of 11 Emirati women who underwent three months of training. Colonel Saeed Al Madhani, acting director of the port police station, said the policewomen would respond to emergencies and secure events.

A development plan formulated for them would see them take on supervisory roles in the future.

Captain Ateeqa Al Dhaheri, member of the women’s police council, said 30 women were nominated for the programme. Of these, 11 selected members were trained in swimming, marine safety, first aid, boat driving, marine patrol procedures, use of tetra devices and sea cycling.
