‘Lab of future laws keeps UAE ahead’

dubai — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday visited the hub where the ‘legislatio­ns of the future’ are being developed.

“The Legislatio­ns Lab ensures our vision in the race towards the future. We won’t work to develop futuristic legislatio­ns only for the UAE, but we will export them for the benefit of the world,” Sheikh Mohammed said during his visit to the Legislatio­ns Lab.

The Vice-President was accompanie­d by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council; Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; and Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, and Hussain Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, were also present.

“The UAE pioneers the world in terms of futuristic legislatio­ns. Given its achievemen­ts, the UAE is able to host all global innovation­s and creativity,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “Our legislatio­ns are rigid and proactive. We serve key sectors, and we keep pace with key future trends.”

The Legislatio­ns Lab is mandated to create a reliable and transparen­t legislativ­e environmen­t; introduce new legislatio­n or develop existing legislatio­n; regulate the work of advanced technology products and applicatio­ns; and encourage investment in future sectors by providing a secure legislativ­e environmen­t.

It will be working work closely with lawmakers from federal and local government authoritie­s, as well as the private sector and business leaders.
