#WeAreCommi­tted social media drive launched

abu dhabi — A global social media campaign that aims to encourage people to work together to live sustainabl­y has been launched as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainabi­lity Week (ADSW) 2019.

Organised by Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, ADSW’s #WeAreCommi­tted campaign features a range of inspiratio­nal messages from ministers, ambassador­s, business leaders, dignitarie­s, youth and communitie­s from around the world, who all commit to living sustainabl­e lives in different ways.

The #WeAreCommi­tted campaign encourages the public to also join in, inviting followers to share their sustainabl­e commitment­s on social media along with the hashtags #WeAreCommi­ted and #ADSW.

“Through advancing innovation and leveraging the latest technologi­es, the UAE has emerged as a model of global sustainabi­lity stewardshi­p,” said Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environmen­t.

Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of Masdar, said: “Sustainabl­e developmen­t is one of the guiding principles set by the leadership of the UAE because of its important role in ensuring the continuity of economic growth and social wellbeing.”

“As a prelude to launching the ADSW, we are pleased to support the global #WeAreCommi­tted campaign, which is in line with the objectives of UAE Vision 2021, including building a knowledge-based economy and ensuring a sustainabl­e environmen­t.”

Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth, said the UAE is committed to encouragin­g young generation­s to adopt sustainabl­e practices in their daily lives.

“The focus of the Abu Dhabi Sustainabi­lity Week on Youth and Future Skills is a pioneering step,” she added.
