Killing of cameraman by Houthis slammed
hodeidah — A cameraman with Abu Dhabi TV, Ziad Al Sharabi, and two children were among six civilians killed by a Houthi bomb attack at a busy market in Mocha, Yemen on Monday evening. A total of 20 including a reporter of Abu Dhbai TV, Faisal Al Dhahbani, were among the injured.
The Houthi militia continues to carry out its crimes against Yemenis by planting improvised explosive devices, mines and mortar shells, with media personnel subjected to systematic criminal campaigns and attacked for exposing their brutal practices and acts of terrorism.
The UAE Journalists Association has condemned the cowardly terrorist act carried out by the Houthi militias against unarmed civilians. It has led to the death of Ziad Al Sharabi and the injury of Faisal Al Dhahbani.
Mohamed Al Hammadi, chairman of the UAE Journalists Association, called on international media organisations to expose the crimes of the Houthis, which target
journalists continuously throughout Yemen, without regard to international conventions and laws that criminalise such immoral practices.
Al Hammadi also called on the International Federation of Journalists and the Federation of Arab Journalists to intervene to stop such criminal acts against journalists in particular, and civilians in general, and to work with the international community to ensure the security and protection of media professionals while performing their duties in places of conflict and war in accordance with international humanitarian law.
The Board of Directors of the association extended its sincere condolences to the family of Al Sharabi and to the Abu Dhabi TV, wishing a speedy recovery to Faisal Al Dhahbani.
In a statement, the Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) has mourned the death of Ziad AlSharabi. The company expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
In a statement, ADMC general manager Dr. Ali bin Tamim strongly condemned the terrorist attacks, adding that the Houthi’s continually violate international laws and norms by attacking civilians and members of the Press.
“This is not the first time that our frontline crews in Yemen have been exposed to Houthi violations and terrorist acts,” Dr. Tamim noted, adding that Abu Dhabi Media is at the forefront of news reporting on developments in Yemen. —
