Four arrested for slew of thefts in Dubai villas

dubai — Four Chinese men were arrested by the Dubai Police for carrying out a series of thefts in various Dubai villas. They have been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecutio­n and charged for the crime.

The Dubai Police had been receiving complaints from owners of villas, including those in Bur Dubai and Al Rashidya, that thieves broke into their houses during their absence and made away with valuables.

As per one of the complaints, a house owner said thieves entered his villa located at Al Rashidiya while he was away.

When he came back at 2am, he was shocked to find the window of the bathroom broken and the bedroom door open. Thieves had stolen jewellery worth Dh300,000 and other valuables from the villa.

Acting on the complaints, the police formed a team and launched an investigat­ion.

They found that the thieves had used the same modus operandi in all the thefts.

The police managed to identity the thieves and arrested the suspects.

The stolen money was recovered from their possession.

During police interrogat­ion, the men confessed that they would carry out recce of the targeted villa and then execute their theft plan.

They would park their car nearby, scale the wall, break the bathroom window, head to the first floor and steal whatever they could lay their hands on.

The police zeroed in on their flats and seized the stolen materials. The suspects, who confessed to their crime, were referred to the Dubai Public Prosecutio­n.
