Science fairs to showcase 2K projects
abu dhabi — Think Science Fairs across the country will present 2,000 projects submitted by 4,000 aspiring youth scientists.
Organised by the Emirates Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, the fairs will start with the UAE Innovation Month on February 17 in Dubai.
The Think Science Fairs, now in their seventh edition, aim to empower the youth between the ages of 15 and 35 to actively engage with the digital revolution and provide them with the right platform to innovate and pursue higher education and careers in science, technology and innovation (STI).
This year, the fair has introduced three new scientific categories — food security, water sustainability and health, and information technology. In Abu Dhabi, the fair will be held on February 24, followed by Sharjah (March 3), Ras Al Khaimah (March 10), Fujairah (March 17), and Ajman and Umm Al Quwain (March 21).
Maytha Al Habsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation, said: “We are proud of the success of the Think Science programme, which is aligned with UAE Science Strategy 2030. Over 70,000 UAE youth have benefited from the programme over the last seven years, and around 16,000 youth from schools and universities have participated in the competition since its inception. It has created unprecedented opportunities for the youth to innovate and take their science projects from concept to reality.
“Our commitment to nurture science and innovation in the nation has never been stronger. I am, therefore, delighted to announce that we will be expanding the Think Science platform this year and taking the competition to all four corners of the UAE to uncover and encourage young talents in the country.”
