‘WE LIVE IN A WORLD OF UNCERTAINTY’

-

The 2008 global financial crisis was a moment in time that left the whole world reeling and many organisations struggling to stay afloat in its immediate aftermath; however, it also proved to be a wake up call for many, said Rajeev Kakar, founder of Dunia Finance, and former Citibank regional CEO of Turkey-MEA region.

“As a banker, I have seen many crisis come and go, but the scale of the 2008 global financial crisis was something that had not been seen since the 1930s. Ten years on, we have seen a world which went through a lot since that time. In addition to the turmoil and uncertainty in the Middle East region, we have also seen a lot of innovation such as the introduction of robotics and Artificial Intelligence. We are also sitting in world that will have to deal with the uncertainty that comes with Brexit. In addition, we are living in a world that is heavily in debt and there is a complete mismatch of supply and demand,” he said.
