Al Ain held goalless by Emirates in AGL clash

-

al ain — Al Ain were held by Emirates Club to a goalless draw at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in matchweek 14 of the Arabian Gulf League on Tuesday.

Al Ain started on the front foot as Mohammed Al Harasi got at the end of a loose ball and cut inside the box from the left side, before unleashing a stunning shot that cannoned off the crossbar in the 7th minute, AGL website reported.

The Boss continued to press forward in order to break the deadlock before the half-time whistle. However, around the half-hour mark, they wasted another dangerous chance through Rayan Al Jaberi, whose left-footed long range volleyed strike went just wide over the bar.

After the restart, the hosts carried on from where they left, when Caio Fernandes found Jamal Al Blooshi with a well-placed crossed freekick. The forward’s flying header was saved steadily by Emirates Club goalkeeper Ali Al Shehhi in the 64th minute.

Just 11 minutes before the fulltime whistle, Diaky Amuah squared the ball towards Ruben Ribeiro, who dribbled skillfully past Al Shehhi. However, the Falcons’ Saad Al Yassi pulled off an excellent goalline save to deny the Al Ain’s new signing his first league goal.

After the draw, Al Ain moved to the second spot with 29 points ahead of their clash against Al Wahda in a postponed game from matchweek 13. Meanwhile, Emirates remain 13th with just 10 points and are set to face Kalba in matchweek 15.
