Afra Rashid Al Basti, DirectorGeneral of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) and a Federal National Council member, told Khaleej

Times that under the UAE law, she is protected and has a right to custody of her children. Al Basti said her foundation and lawyers would help the woman, Hind Albolooki, with the case. “I was recently made aware of the case of @HAlbolooki. I am writing this to publicly demonstrate my support to this case. Everyone is entitled to have freedom, especially women. Dubai and the leadership have set clear policies and laws to protect women in these circumstances.”

abu dhabi — The Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi has dismissed the appeal of a businessman demanding Dh10 million in damages from the owner and manager of a furniture company. The man claimed that the company breached the agreement that granted exclusive agency for their products in a foreign country.

Maintaining earlier rulings by the lower courts, the judge said the claims in the lawsuit of the businessman do not amount to cheating or fraud that allows the manager to be held liable and to pay the debts of the company.

According to the court documents, the Arab man filed a lawsuit against the company and its manager, demanding the dissolution of his relationship with the company and obliging it to refund Dh3.5 million he paid them for securing the agency contact and Dh2.7 million in compensation for the losses he suffered in the business. The man also demanded Dh5 million in compensation.

The Federal Supreme Court ruling asserted that the court found they both neglected obligations which greatly contributed in the failure.
