Moroccan artefacts on display in Abu Dhabi
300 Artefacts and antiquities are showcased at ‘Morocco in Abu Dhabi’
abu dhabi — A large collection of artefacts representing Morocco’s rich heritage is currently on display at the on-going ‘Morocco in Abu Dhabi’. This is the first time that these antiquities are exhibited outside the country.
Showcasing a total of 300 items, the Museum of Moroccan Heritage will run until April 30 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).
Visitors of the museum get the chance to explore Morocco’s ancient monuments linking the East and West, including an exclusive collection of Islamic manuscripts, coins, oil lanterns, ceramic utensils, monetary ornaments and equestrian tools. A variety of Moroccan fine arts, reflecting Morocco’s authenticity and history, is also featured.
“Morocco in Abu Dhabi reflects the deep and historic relations between the UAE and Morocco and their peoples, which are being widened through the values of tolerance and amity,” said Mehdi Qotbi, president of the Moroccan National Foundation Museums.
The event, he said, has seen “tremendous success” during the past three editions, attracting a wide audience from both UAE nationals and residents.
Abdelaziz Al Idrissi, the museum’s director for Morocco in Abu Dhabi, said: “Each year, the museum gains greater popularity, a fact that underscores the high culture and artistic sense of Abu Dhabi and UAE nationals, residents and visitors.”
