For the first time in the region, a rehabilitation centre has rolled out a master’s course and higher diploma programme on addiction sciences.

It was launched by Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation, in cooperation with Dubai Medical College and accredited by the Ministry of Education.

Through the programme, the centre aims to produce professionals who are able to provide specialised healthcare services in the treatment of addiction in hospitals and other clinical institutions.

The programmes will also help the graduates to become licensed psychiatrists, addiction rehabilitation specialists or nursing care professionals, based on the background of each student. The programme also aims to enhance the role of clinical practitioners of addiction as a member of the healthcare team.

The courses were launched in the presence of Dr Abdul Qader Al Khayyat, chairman of Erada Centre; Dr Mohammed Faeq, executive director of the centre; Dr Amr Abdel Aty, consultant psychiatrist; Mohammed Galal El Din, dean of Dubai Medical College; and Hafiz Ahmad, professor of biochemistry.
