Charity pays Dh2.7M school fees for 700 expat students

ras al khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah Charity Foundation (RKCF) has paid Dh2.78 million against study fees for 700 students of different nationalities in the last academic year.
Muhammad Jakkah, secretarygeneral of the foundation, told Khaleej Times that they spare no effort to support vulnerable students who cannot pursue their study for financial reasons.
“This is actually in pursuance of the directives of the prudent leadership to build up a new generations armed with knowledge and the skills to develop the nation.” He added fees paid covered students of both schools and universities.
“The cheques have been issued for the benefit of those students so that they can complete their academic study.”
Figures show that the foundation has distributed up to Dh9.73 to 4,732 vulnerable people and low-income families all over the emirate this Ramadan.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has also paid the school fees of up to 1,971 expatriate students of low-income families in Ras Al Khaimah.
The announcement was made in April this year by Sumaia Hareb Al Suwaidi, chairperson of the Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Charitable Educational Establishment, while unveiling their programme for the holy month of Ramadan.
“The establishment, as per the instruction of Sheikh Saud has paid Dh2.192 million against pending schools fees of 350 students.”
Also in April this year, the Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Charitable Educational Foundation announced paying out the outstanding schools of five children whose father abandoned them with their mother before three years.
“The five siblings will be shifted to the Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr charity schools by next year to continue their education for free,” Al Suwaidi disclosed.
“The foundation provided the indigent family with Ramadan Meer or foodstuff packages and is to sponsor them in collaboration with businessmen and philanthropists here.”
