According to the university, the year of Expo 2020 Dubai will not only attract a large number of foreign students but it will also see an increase in employment and the need for specialised labour. The education sector will have to maintain the highest standards as it progresses and develops to greater strengths and plays a vital role in the UAE’s plans towards the next 50 years. Amity Education has partnered with Expo 2020 across all campuses, hoping to play an active role in the 173-day event that will bring in energy, ideas and opportunities for its schools and the university. Exchanging ideas and creating a dialogue through research continues to be a key focus area. Over the past year, Amity has organised and hosted industry practitioners and renowned researchers from universities across the world for international conferences intending to foster a culture of research among students of all programmes.
In 2019, Amity University Dubai became the first university to receive the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award and the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award, and a 4-star rating in Dubai Quality Global Award. It was also awarded the ‘Best Campus’ by Forbes Middle East and received an overall 4-star rating in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s first ranking for branch universities in Dubai.
The university campus is designed to inspire students to become future innovators. A few months ago, as UAE’s first astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori was prepping for his space sojourn,
Amity University Dubai set up a satellite ground station on campus for aerospace engineering faculty and students. The first-of-its-kind on a university campus, the ground station gave students the opportunity to perform a number of operational functions that will help them in their aerospace careers. Besides this, photovoltaic solar panels were installed on campus grounds and rooftop recently, as the university aims to become a completely solar-powered campus over the next few years. Also, Amity University Dubai’s incubation centre is a one-of-a-kind initiative that helps students turn their ideas into functional business concepts. The innovation hub brings together innovators, interns, industry mentors and entrepreneurs, all aimed to support student entrepreneurs with launching and scaling their own business ideas.
Amity University Dubai, Amity Education Group’s first university in the Middle East, opened its doors to students in 2011 with a handful of undergraduate engineering, science and management programmes. Now the university’s 700,000 sq. ft campus is home to students of over 65 nationalities, offering 39 graduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in a range of areas, including aerospace engineering, solar and alternate energy, psychology, forensic sciences, architecture, law, tourism and more. Education is key to building a self-sufficient knowledge economy and as the higher education landscape in the UAE continues to grow and improve to meet UAE Vision 2021, universities in the country are focusing on providing quality education and creating learning opportunities that will support students as they learn the key qualities, skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a workplace.
“Improving the way we communicate with students and creating a more modern outlook to education is key to our growth in this region. The UAE’s vision for the future is exciting and we look forward to being a part of it as we work towards developing the education sector over the next 50 years. From the successful launch of several student startups driven through our incubation centre to the introduction of blended learning diplomas and the opening of Amity University Bahrain in September 2020, we will continue to align our goals and objectives with that of the nation,” reiterated Dr Vajahat Hussain, CEO of Amity Education.
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, blockchain technology, digital marketing and data science are some of the areas of study included in their one year blended learning programmes
