UAE, China determined to beat virus

abu dhabi — The UAE and China are assuring the internatio­nal community that they are determined to keep working together to beat the Covid-19 epidemic, a top Chinese diplomat has said.

A recent phone call from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a “positive signal to the internatio­nal community”, according to Ni Jian, the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE.

“It has showed that China and the

UAE are working hand in hand to overcome difficulti­es through thick and thin. Epidemic knows no border; disease is no lonely island; virus is a common enemy for mankind.”

The Chinese, he said, are sparing no effort to fight the virus. “President Xi noted that ... China has not only been doing its best to protect the lives and health of its own people, but made positive contributi­ons to safeguardi­ng global public health security.”

During the phone call, Sheikh Mohamed offered public support to China’s epidemic control efforts. He also extended his condolence­s on the death of victims and wished quick recovery to those who are ill.

“He also praised China’s efforts to contain and combat the virus, expressing his confidence in its ability to overcome this crisis,” Ni said. —
