FUJAIRAH — Three men, including one at large, have been tried at the Fujairah Court of Appeal, on charges of killing an engineer at his house to rob the salaries of their fellow workers here at Dibba, Fujairah.

The trio was earlier found guilty by the Court of First Instance which sentenced them to life in prison.

Court records show that the victim was working with a contracting engineering office.

“As part of his duty, he was assigned to supervise the workers at different construction sites,” according to the sheet of indictment. “He was also responsible for distributing their salaries.”

The three suspects hatched a plot to rob the money meant for the salaries from the engineer’s house. The first suspect made a duplicate key of the entrance door to enter the house.

He, along with the other two suspects, got into the house and committed the robbery.

The engineer happened to come back home early and saw the three suspects, and tried to stop them. However, the first suspect dealt a fatal blow on his head with a sharp tool.

He slumped to the ground, lost consciousness, bled excessively, and breathed his last, while the trio escaped the scene.

The CID sleuths of the Fujairah Police were alerted of the murder and robbery.

A search and investigation team was formed to gather all possible information and evidence, following which they managed to arrest the second and third criminals, while the first fled the country.

The case was moved to the Fujairah Court of First Instance where the second and third suspects admitted to the robbery, but denied any involvement in killing the victim.

It was the first suspect who inflicted the fatal injury, they affirmed. The court found them guilty and ordered them to serve life sentence.

Dissatisfied with the judgment, the duo appealed against it in the higher court, which heard their pleading, and ordered adjournment of the case to next week for issuing its ruling.
