Next two weeks crucial for virus spread: Minister
quetta — Planning Minister Asad Umar has said that the next days 10 days are ‘crucial’ regarding the spread of coronavirus in the country and warned that non-compliance of SOPs during Eid Al Adha could lead to a spike in cases.
Speaking to reporters after a National
Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting in Quetta, he said cases and deaths had seen a sharp rise after Eid Al Fitr because people showed negligence.
Meanwhile, an official of the
NCOC said that the
Covid-19 caseload in
Pakistan had reached
270,006 with 1,763 new cases reported during last 24 hours.
Sharing the data, he said a total of 5,756 deaths had been reported so far with 32 fresh deaths reported during the last 24 hours. He said that 213,175 patients had so far recovered.
The NCOC official said that 1,799,290 tests had been conducted, including 22,408 in the last 24 hours. He said 115,883 cases were reported by Sindh, 91,129 by Punjab, 32,898 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 14,722 by Islamabad, 1,896 by Gilgit Baltistan, 11,517 by Balochistan and 1,961 by Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
