-

jalna (Maharashtra) — Tragedy stuck a family in Palaskhed-Pimple village here when three brothers drowned in a well late Wednesday night, police said here on Thursday.

The shocking incident came to light early morning when the family went to search for the missing brothers who did not return home.

According to an official of Hasnabad Police Station, in Bhokardan taluka, the trio — Dnyaneshwar Appasaheb Jadhav, 26 and his younger brothers Rameshwar, 25 and Sunil, 18 — had gone to their field to water the crops after having their supper. They left on

two motorcycles and were expected to return within a couple of hours after completing the job of irrigating their fields. On reaching the spot, one of the brothers went to switch on the water pump but got an electric shock and was thrown into the adjoining well.

Seeing this, the other two brothers rushed there and jumped into the well to rescue him.

However, in the darkness, they apparently drowned even as their family awaited them at home.

When they did not turn up, the family called them on their mobiles which went unanswered for long.

Finally, after midnight, they went to search for them and found their bodies in the well around 3am early on

Thursday. The Hasnabad Police sent an officer Santosh Ghodke to investigate and carry out other formalities.

The bodies of the three brothers were fished out of the well on Thursday morning even as the entire village was plunged into a pall of gloom after the catastrophe that befell the Jadhav family.

The eldest son, Dyaneshwar had been married only three months ago, while his brothers Rameshwar and Sunil — who worked in a factory in Aurangabad had come home during the lockdown to help with the family’s farming activity. —
