Take these tiny steps and play your role in the conservation of water
Conservation of water is a task that demands care and attention. According to statistics published by the United Nations, 700 million people in 43 countries today suffer from water scarcity. By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water-stressed conditions. It is evident from these statistics that the safeguarding of water is not to be neglected, especially during the times of Covid-19 where sanitation and water are critical for the survival of a person.
The conservation of water plays a major role in the activities and policies used to guard the essential hydrosphere, manage resources of freshwater, and be recognised as sufficient for the demands of human beings. Goals aiming in the field of water conservation vary from ensuring the availability of water for future generations, preservation of electricity and energy, to protecting habitats, which would flourish from minimising human water usage. A large number of steps and strategies have been implemented by various governments and countries regarding the same. However, the conservation of water requires that everyone adopts steps required to sustain water and make it accessible for future generations.
As individuals, there are many ways to conserve water at home. These vary from the simplest and most fundamental to those mostly overlooked in our lives. These include:
1 Turning off the water when brushing teeth
2 Using washing machines only when the loading capacity has achieved the maximum level
3 Installing water-saving showerheads
4 Performing regular inspections for leaks
5 Preventing the faucet from running when washing vegetables
6 Preferring brooms to clean driveways over hoses Combining forces and preventing wastage can ultimately morph our world into a better place to live. Spread awareness and play your role today.
