Five scam callers wipe out residents’ bank savings, arrested

-

A gang of five men who wiped out residents' savings accounts by pretending to be bank employees was arrested in Sharjah, police said on Thursday. Col Omar Ahmed Balzod, director of Sharjah Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said the scammers would make random calls and tell victims they must update their bank details, or their accounts would be frozen. After receiving many such reports, the police launched a probe and tracked down the scam callers.
