BITS Pilani Dubai Campus’ Sports Festival kicks off
BITS Pilani Sports Festival (BSF) kicked off on November 21. Organised by BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC), the five-day-long sporting extravaganza will sees 11 sports events played among 5000 participants from 34 universities across the UAE. MAHA, the Arabian Oryx was chosen as the mascot. Callum Howard Chase, and Saeed Mohamed Alhashmi, the education officers from the Dubai Safari Park, inaugurated the festival and unveiled the mascot.
Dr Prof Srinivasan Madapusi, director of BPDC, said: “Every BITSIAN stands tall with the confidence of advanced knowledge and is armed with qualities like flexibility, persistence, resourcefulness, and optimism. The BITS Sports Festival is a grand show of different sports and this year it also presents women’s boxing. We are delighted to announce that boxing champion Mary Kom will be the chief guest this year for the closing ceremony.”
Dr M Rafiuddin, the convener of BITS Pilani Sports Festival, said: “The event, for years has helped engage the student community in the UAE and empowered them with the spirit of sportsmanship, inter-professional teamwork and wellness.”
