Rulers pardon prisoners to mark National Day
The President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has ordered the release of 1,530 prisoners ahead of the UAE’S 51st National Day. Sheikh Mohamed also pledged to settle the financial obligations of the pardoned inmates, who had been sentenced to jail terms for different offences.

Al Maktoum, Vice-president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also ordered the release of 1,040 inmates in the emirate.
The Ruler of Sharjah ordered the release of 333 inmates who are currently serving their sentence at the emirate’s central jail. His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, granted the pardon.
A total of 153 prisoners of different nationalities shall be released in Fujairah after being pardoned by the emirate’s Ruler. His
Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, ordered their release on the occasion of National Day.
The pardoned prisoners have shown good conduct and behaviour, proving their eligibility for the noble gesture.
His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 111 prisoners. The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour. — wam
