President, Rulers hail selfless sacrifice of martyrs
The President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has said that November 30 is a day that strengthens people's loyalty to the UAE while remembering the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
In a statement to mark Commemoration Day, observed on November 30 each year, His Highness said: “On this day, we stand in admiration and respect for the UAE'S martyrs who lost their lives while protecting the sovereignty of our land and keeping our flag flying high. We vow that their sacrifices will remain etched in the memories of future generations, and we renew our pledge that the UAE leadership will continue to support the children and the families of our martyrs.
“We remember with respect and appreciation the efforts of my late brother, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who designated 30th November as a day to salute the precious sacrifices of the nation's martyrs who gave their lives while defending our nation.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, joined the President in paying tributes to the martyrs.
In his speech, published in the Nation Shield magazine, Sheikh Mohammed said: “Today, we gather as leadership and people to commemorate the nation's martyrs and reiterate our appreciation for their generous sacrifices to defend the country's freedom, security and stability.
“Today, we thank our Armed Forces, including the country's martyrs, who made great sacrifices that underscored their devotion and patriotism.”
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said: “The UAE has always been a beacon of hope during our humanitarian missions, extending a helping hand to the oppressed, and providing relief to the distressed and those in need. Its fallen heroes have made great sacrifices in order to achieve this noble goal and ensure a safe, secure and stable livelihood for all."
His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, said: "On this occasion, we extend our greetings to the UAE Armed Forces members inside the country and abroad who are always proactive to protect the stability and security of our country," he said.
His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, said: “No matter how much time will pass, our people will commemorate the memory of our fallen heroes whose sacrifices represent a patriotic spirit and a symbol of strength, peace, courage and justice.”
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, said: “On this glorious day, we stand in awe of the sacrifices of the country's martyrs, praying that Allah Almighty protects the UAE'S leadership, our soldiers and our nation,” he said. “May our martyrs rest in peace.”
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said: “We extend our
respect to the country's martyrs, the icons of patriotism, dignity and sacrifice, and the beacons that light the process of national development.
