The upper storey of the most famous of Sharjah’s souks houses the best selection of carpet shops in the country, including anti-rip-off Persian Carpet Kingdom / 06 573 5098 / persiancarpetkingdom.com / where Abdul will ply you with Turkish coffee while haggling over rugs. Also find silk and wool woven works of art from India, Pakistan and Iran. It’s cheaper than Dubai, but bargain hard. There’s also a bounty of silver jewellery to keep you happy.
