The Expo 2020 Dubai event site, which has been developed over time to hold such a worldwide event, will be transformed into a residential community. The site will be transformed into a health and well-being destination that promotes an active and balanced lifestyle. Residents will begin moving into flats in District 2020 by the end of this year, with the transfer taking place in stages over the next nine months after the world’s largest cultural event concludes.

District 2020 will be the country’s first “15-minute city,” since inhabitants will be able to pedal from one end to the other in under 15 minutes, according to the site’s sustainability focus.

The District will have everything within 15 minutes, including workplaces, parks, grocery, retail shops, restaurants, and coffee shops, all of which will be accessible by bicycle. When the project is completed, the district will feature driverless electric automobiles in addition to cycling.

By connecting people via pedestrian walkways, autonomous vehicle routes, and public transportation networks, the “human-centric” metropolis aspires to make living here car-free.

With the Expo ending in less than two months, the UAE has already begun preparing how to effectively utilize the event site, which includes a dedicated autonomous car route, a 10-kilometer cycling track, interconnected, wide pedestrianized paths, and a 5-kilometer jogging track.
