Abstract Art
“Being an artist is about continually evolving your art and this happens by entertaining all those new and different ideas” says Rabab.
Rabab Tantawy, born in Cairo in 1971, grew up watching her mother draw and create. Although she did not pursue an artistic profession from the start, Rabab maintained an interest in the arts and trained herself several techniques. methods ranging from extremely conventional materials such as oil painting to newer mediums such as spray paints
Rabab began her artistic career by participating in various shows and aggressively exploring street art. “A painting just comes through you; you were just a vessel and all you had to do is show up” says Rabab.
The artist used a variety of materials to produce a lighthearted approach to the often-serious topics that underpin her work. Her primary concerns are unification, community, and heritage.
While many artists approach these issues from a different standpoint, Rabab attempts to bridge the gap by rendering these subjects through the perspective of universality. “Being an artist is about continually evolving your art and this happens by entertaining all those new and different ideas” says Rabab.
Rabab is a gifted artist. She does not utilize preliminary drawings. Instead, she uses the canvas as a platform for direct download. There are no expectations for a finished project. In some ways, the product is the process of production.
Her art is built on the foundations of line and color. The artist's work, whether abstract or realistic, begins with a line. The lines serve as a skeleton, influencing the entire process of creating the artwork. This process establishes the rhythm of the painting, whether it be gentle flowing lines or powerful angular ones.
While many artists choose to deal with limited color palettes, Rabab seamlessly transitions from classical earthy colors to bold neon colors in the same series.
