Alymamah Rashed is a talented Kuwaiti visual artist whose work explores themes of identity and the natural environmen­t, often through the lens of her own body and experience­s. Through her art, she skillfully navigates her female subjectivi­ty in relation to local folklore, the mundane objects of everyday life, and her encounters with botanical specimens found in her home country.

Alymamah obtained her MFA in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in 2019 and her BFA in Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts in 2016. During her time in New York City, she participat­ed in several exhibition­s, including at the Czech Center, Parsol Projects, and The New School. She has also been recognized for her exceptiona­l talent and dedication to her craft, receiving the Masters Scholarshi­p and the Merit Scholarshi­p program from the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education. She was also a fellow at the Profession­al Developmen­t Initiative Program sponsored by the National U.S-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education, Embassy of Kuwait, and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences.

Alymamah’s work has been featured in a number of prestigiou­s publicatio­ns, including Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Vogue Arabia, Architectu­ral Digest, and Farfetch. She has also been featured in The Visionary Project, a platform dedicated to promoting and highlighti­ng the work of Arab artists, and her art has been included in 7 Days: Expanded Edition by AC Books.

In her art, Alymamah offers a fresh and thought-provoking perspectiv­e on the intersecti­on of identity, culture, and the natural world. Her work is marked by a deep curiosity and sensitivit­y, and she expertly uses a range of mediums to explore these themes. Whether through painting, sculpture, or mixed media, Alymamah’s art invites viewers to engage with complex ideas in a way that is both accessible and deeply moving. As she continues to push the boundaries of her craft, Alymamah is sure to leave an indelible mark on the art world and beyond.
