Reshu Malhotra gives you tips on creating the most beautiful look for the bride
Indian wedding celebrations are all about ceremonies. Mehendi, Sangeet, reception… the occasions are endless and a bride needs a different look for each. And this can be achieved through fabulous eye make-up. Here I give some useful tips to stand out from the rest!
WHY ARE EYES SO IMP?
Your basic look would not change throughout the ceremonies, so what matters are the eyes. Change your eye-make up for different occasions. Here are some tips:
MEHENDI EYE MAKEUP LOOK
PREP: Prime your eyelids to keep your makeup in place all day. Add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder to prime eyes for the eyeshadow EYESHADOW: Apply a very soft shimmering nude-pink or rose gold shadow all over the lid. Then apply matte taupe shade through the crease with a soft, fluffy. Product recommended: Huda Beauty Nude palette REINFORCE THE LOWER LASH LINE: Apply the same matte shadow you used along your bottom lashes, all the way across. Blend it well so the whole look on the bottom is connected to the top. This gives your lower lashes that same fresh sultry feeling as your eyelids. EYELINER: Keep the eye liner thin and understated KOHL TO WATERLINE: Use brown or black pencil to define your water line. Simply add a line of black pencil on the water lines of both of your eyes. This should make your eyes stand out. MASCARA: Pump up your lashes with a coat of Mascara. HIGHLIGHTER: A touch of shimmer on the inner corners of your eyes, brow bone, and cheekbones hides the ravages of the day.
WEDDING EYE MAKEUP LOOK: GLITTER CUT CREASE EYE MAKEUP
To execute the perfect cut crease, select three colors to use along with a glitter. I recommend Tarte Pro Remix Eye shadow Palette.
PREP YOUR EYES: Prime your eyelids to keep your makeup in place all day. Add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder to prime the eyes for the shadow.
APPLY A MEDIUM TONE EYESHADOW JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE EYELID CREASE: Apply the lightest shade to the upper crease and draw a slightly curved arch just above your natural eyelid crease with a fluffy blending.
APPLY A DARK TONE EYESHADOW TO THE EYELID CREASE:
Choose a color that is similar to your first eye shadow but darker than it. For e.g. if you used a champagne-colored shadow for the first layer, try a dark brown eyeshadow and blend that color towards the upper part of your crease with a separate brush.
APPLY THE DARKEST SHADE ON THE CENTER OF THE CREASE: Deepen it as much as possible, the more contrast the better it is.
CUT THE CREASE: Use a flat makeup brush dipped in concealer to create a rounded line right below your natural crease, work from below all the way down to your lash line. Once it is flawlessly done, use a translucent powder to set the concealer.
HIGHLIGHT THE EYELID: Apply a glitter eyeshadow on the
eye lid.
LOWER LASH LINE: Apply the deepest eyeshadow below your bottom eyelashes with a thin brush and blend it well. WATER LINE: Use brown or black pencil to define your water line.
EYE LINER: A nice winged eyeliner looks amazing. HIGHLIGHTER: Apply highlighter on the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.
MASCARA AND FALSE EYELASHES : It’s time to really make those top lashes pop by adding your favorite false eye lashes and apply mascara on your upper and lower lashes.
LIPSTICK: Complete the look with your favourite lipstick. If it’s the day time wedding, go for soft shades such as pinks and coral. If it’s night time choose a shade of red.
RECEPTION EYE MAKEUP LOOK: CLASSIC BRONZE EYES AND BOLD LIPS
PREP YOUR EYE LIDS: Prime your eyelids, add a concealer to the lids and dust a light transparent powder.
EYESHADOW STEP 1: Using a light brown shade, dust this into the crease to work as a transition shade and blend it towards the brow bone.
EYESHADOW STEP 2: Apply a shimmery bronze shade on the eye lid
EYESHADOW STEP 3: Blend a medium brown shade onto the outer half of the lids directing the color in a triangle shape so the inner half stays light
EYESHADOW STEP 4: Now apply a deeper brown shade on along the lash line and in the outer v to add a bit more dimension to it.
EYE LINER: Apply the brown or black eyeliner on your lash line
LOWER LASH LINE: Apply a medium brown shade along the lower lash line and deeper brown shade in the outer half and blend the 2 shades together.
HIGHLIGHTER: Apply highlighter on the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.
MASCARA AND FALSE EYELASHES : It’s time to really make those top lashes pop by adding your favorite false eye lashes and apply mascara on your upper and lower lashes.
