World’s most expensive perfume launched in Dubai

All about SHUMUKH, the world’s most expensive perfume

It embodies Dubai in every sense – aspiration, opulence and glamour. The big launch of last month is certainly that of SHUMUKH – the unisex perfume launched by the ultraluxe fragrance brand The Spirit of Dubai Parfums by Nabeel. As the name suggests, it pays tribute to the ‘spirit of Dubai’ in the ultimate manner. SHUMUKH, which translates as ‘deserving the highest’ is not just a perfume, it is a piece of jewellery to cherish. And it is valued at a whopping price - Dhs 4.752 million! Set with sparkling diamonds, topaz, pearls, gold and silver, this is the epitome of jawdropping luxury.

Inspired by the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Dubai, the idea is to showcase seven key elements that make up this city - pearl diving (Durra), falconry (Baz), Arabian horses (Abjar), roses (Narjesi), luxury (Haibah), Arabian hospitality (Diwan), and Dubai’s stature as a ‘city of the future’ (Aamal), all of which have been intricately modelled in gold and silver and ornamented with the diamonds and precious stones. It took nearly three years and about 500 trials to formulate and the effort is worth it. SHUMUKH is composed of fine natural ingredients sourced from the furthest corners of the globe, comprising notes of amber, sandalwood, musk, rare pure Indian agarwood, pure Turkish rose, patchouli ylang-ylang and frankincense. Its hand-blown Italian Murano glass bottle has the capacity to hold three litres of perfume that is dispensed via a remote-controlled spray mechanism that adjusts to the user’s ideal height! Conceptualised in the UAE by Asghar Adam Ali, Chairman and Master perfumer at Nabeel Perfumes Group of Companies, and executed by artisans and master craftsmen from Switzerland, Italy and France including the recipients of the designation of Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (“Best Craftsman of France”), SHUMUKH is the only perfume to hold two Guinness World Record titles - ‘Most diamonds set on a perfume bottle’ and ‘Tallest remote controlled (RC) fragrance spray product’.
