From Haseen Dillruba to Tadap, all the Bollywood films you wouldn’t want to miss this summer

With the lockdown eased once again, and summer just around the corner, here’s a list of all the Bollywood films that you can watch this season. After the pandemic began in March 2020, some of the biggest Bollywood releases were pushed to a later date on OTT platforms. These films were supposed to release starting April 2021, but due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in India, cinema halls were shut down once again and the releases were halted as well. Now, with summer well and truly here and most people vaccinated, here’s a list of all the films coming out this summer:

Haseen Dillruba July 2 | Netflix

Starring Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey and Harshvardh­an Rane, Haseen Dillruba is all set to release on Netflix on July 2. The mystery thriller sees Taapsee’s character, Rani under investigat­ion as a suspect in her husband’s murder. Things take a turn when they start questionin­g about her relationsh­ip with another man.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui July 9 | in cinemas

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui features Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the lead. The film was shot during the pandemic in just 60 days and is slated to release in cinemas on July 9.

Collar Bomb July 9 | on Disney + Hotstar

Starring Jimmy Shergill and Asha Negi, Collar Bomb tells the story of a suicide bomber only minutes away from blowing up a school. Jimmy, who plays Manoj Hesi has to stop the bomb from explodin. The film releases on Disney+ Hotstar on July 9 .

14 Phere July 9 | on Zee 5

Yet another Vikrany Massey film, 14 Phere is all set to release this summer on Zee 5. It also stars Kriti Kharbanda as the female lead in the social comedy drama made for families. Gauahar Khan also makes an appearance in this film directed by Divenshu Singh.

Bell Bottom July 27 | in cinemas

Based in the 80s, Bell Bottom is a spy thriller starring Akshay Kumar as Rishi Vikram Khanna. It revolves around the plane hijacks that took India by a storm in the early 1980s. Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta.

Toofan July 16 | on Amazon Prime Video

Starring Farhan Akhar, Toofan tells the story of a boxer and the struggles he faced during his journey to get to the national level competitio­n. It also features Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal in crucial roles.

Radhe Shyam July 30 | in cinemas

Radhe Shyam starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde is a romantic drama set in Europe of 20th Century. The film has been shot in Hindi and Telugu, simultaneo­usly and is set to hit screens on July 30.

Hungama 2 July 16 | on Disney+ Hotstar

Hungama 2 is a spiritual successor to the 2003 film Hungama. It stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash. It will be reeased on Disney+ Hotstar.

Gangubai Kathiawadi July 30 | in cinemas

Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first collaborat­ion Gangubai Kathiawadi faced a lot of troubles. The film that took two years in the making is now all set to release in cinemas on July 30, making it one of the most-awaited releases of the summer.

Atrangi Re August 6 | in cinemas

Starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush, Atrangi Re will be releasing on its initial release date, August 6. As of now, no reports of it being released on a digital platform have been made but fans can expect it to hit in the theatres this summer.

Anek September 17 | in cinemas

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Anek is an action-thriller. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film brings fresh feel to Bollywood cinema. While details of the film are still under wraps, it’s slated to release in cinemas on September 17.

Attack August 13 | in cinemas

Attack stars John Abraham in the leading role alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul

Preet Singh. Based on hostage crisis, the storyline is inspired by true events. The film was slated to release on August 14 last year, but due to shooting delays, it is not reported to hit the silver screen on August 13.

Tadap September 24 | in cinemas

Ahan Shetty, son of Suniel Shetty, is all set to make his Bollywood debut this year. He stars alongside Tara Sutaria in the upcoming action-drama, which is a remake of Telugu film RX 100. The film is slated to hit screens on September 24.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar August 27 | in cinemas

Starring Ranveer Singh, Jayeshbhai Jordaar is a social comedy written and directed by Divyang Thakkar. It was earlier slated to release on October 2, 2020 but is now all set to hit screens on August 27.

‘83 TBD | in cinemas

‘83 stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and Singh portrays Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev and Deepika his wife, Romi. The film is based on the true story of India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem and Pankaj Tripathi.

Sharmaji Namkeen September 3 | in cinemas

Sharmaji Namkeen was earlier supposed to star Rishi Kapoor. However, the actor’s untimely demise last year shocked many. Some of the scenes were left to have been shot, but the makers then replaced Rishi with Paresh Rawal. The film was also supposed to mark Rishi’s comeback with Juhi Chawla. It is now slated to release on September 3.

Shamshera TBD | in cinemas

Set in 1800, Shamshera tells the story of a dacoit tribe and their fight for independen­ce during the British rule. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in his first movie after a long hiatus will also see him opposite Vaani Kapoor. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, and Ronit Roy.

Liger September 9 | in cinemas

Starring Vijay Devarakond­a and Ananya Panday, Liger revolves around a kick-boxer with a stutter. Earlier, Janhvi Kapaoor was supposed to play the female lead, but due to date issues, she was replaced by Ananya. The film is now expected to hit screens on September 9.

Bhoot Police September 10 | in cinemas

Bhoot Police is one of the most anticipate­d films of the year, starring Arjun Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. It also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam as they embark on a rather mystical journey. The film is scheduled to release on September 10.
