Electrical Project of the Year

MEP Middle East - - MEP AWARDS 2018 -

KEO International Consultants won the Electrical Project of the Year award for Kuwait Investment Authority Headquarters project.

The Kuwait Investment Authority Headquarters is a 230-meter, 48-storey tower raised on a 6-storey podium. The façade of the tower, based on the traditional mashrabiya, is not only eye-catching but also eco-friendly. It serves as a screening mechanism for reducing the window aperture on the western and southern faces to protect the building from intense sunlight, while increasing the window aperture on the eastern and northern faces allows more natural light into the building. This dynamic façade changes depending on the directional orientation and levels of the tower.

The company states: “Energy efficiency was the goal from the outset, with the lighting sources and controls, motor efficiency, and the BMS system all focused around that. The final design for energy efficiency complies with international standards and best engineering practices.”

Receiving the awards was Darrel Strobel, managing director-MEP Engineering, KEO-Design, said: “I would like to thank my team whose hard work behind the scenes made this possible. We’re working on some very exciting projects that haven’t yet moved into the construction stage, and we when they do, we hope to achieve more success next year.”
