Round­ing out his 29th year with the award­win­ning, Dubai-based ar­chi­tec­ture and de­sign firm God­win Austen John­son (GAJ), Brian John­son has main­tained an al­most con­stant pres­ence in the GCC since 1975. Open­ing the GAJ head­quar­ters in Dubai in 1991, John­son played a large role in mod­ernising tra­di­tional ar­chi­tec­ture across the UAE, with his work com­pris­ing some of the coun­try’s most recog­nis­able build­ings, such as the Dubai Creek Golf Club, Bab Al Shams and the Ara­bian Court at the One&Only Royal Mi­rage. With his con­tin­u­ous guid­ance, GAJ has gone on to com­plete a num­ber of projects in 2018, in­clud­ing Al Seef in Dubai, Al Bait in Shar­jah and Dubai Col­lege. GAJ is cur­rently work­ing on a di­verse range of projects, in­clud­ing the Vida Dubai Creek Har­bour, Ar­ca­dia Sec­ondary School in Dubai, Dou­bleTree by Hilton in Shar­jah, the Dou­bleTree by Hilton and Hilton Gar­den Inn, both in Riyadh. To­day, GAJ’s key mar­kets are the UAE, Saudi Ara­bia and Egypt.
